LEARN TO RING THE BELLS
Meet people, have fun & get fit!
Villagers are being offered the opportunity to sponsor a pew seat pad and have it designed to commemorate a personal or family occasion. The craft group, The Crafting Bells, have applied for a grant to help with most of the cost but whilst waiting for that to be confirmed, they will be able to start the massive task ahead by starting on the personalised ones.
A member of the group who is adept in both tapestry and design will work with villagers to discuss what they would like to show on their cushion. We are looking at this project to help create warmth and comfort in Holy Trinity Minster Church, Great Paxton, for both congregation and visitors alike. It will be a great improvement for the events that will continue to be held in the church.
ANYONE is welcome to come and join the group which will meet every 4th Monday evening of the month from 7.00pm until 9.00pm at The Bell Pub, Great Paxton.
Call Diane James on 07522 449535 for a chat about sponsoring a tapestry pew seat pad or if you would like further information.

Proceeds to Great Paxton Church.
The bells have arrived back at Holy Trinity, Great Paxton Church from Taylors in Loughborough. In a week long process with lots of help from volunteers, the bells were moved from the floor of the church and winched into the tower. With the now six bells installed safely in the tower, they were rung for the first time this week as a trial run. There is no access into the belfry however, the new CCTV system will soon be installed in the church and then everyone will be able to see what happens in the tower as the bells are being rung.
We are almost at the end of this wonderful project, with thanks to village residents, donors and Heritage Lottery Fund.
Do take a look at the gallery for more fantastic photos of the process.
Work is still continuing in the tower at Great Paxton Church to get ready for the return of the bells. The wooden frames have been treated with preservative and work prevention treatment. Just the metalwork to be treated before the end of the week. Next week (w/c 11th June) the metal frame for the new bell is to be fitted. We are looking forward to welcoming the five original bells and one new bell back to the church at the end of this month.
The existing 5 Great Paxton Church Bells rang out for the final time on the evening of Thursday 5 April 2018 before the beginning of the removal the following week (w/c 9 April 2018). The bells were removed last week and taken to Taylor's of Loughborough. The tenor bell will be recast and a new treble bell cast to make a peal of 6 bells. Do take a look at the short video of the bells being rung from the tower floor and also a short tour round the grounds of the church whilst the bells rang out.
