LEARN TO RING THE BELLS
Meet people, have fun & get fit!
Rather than our usual YouTube sunday services, I have pleasure in posting a recording of our actual Remembrance service from Little Paxton Church. This was recorded on Sunday 14th November at 3pm. We would like to thank everyone that attended.
Annette says, 'I had the pleasure of sharing the screen with Ursula Van Leeuwen-Hill from Manor Farm at Great Paxton and we share some words and thoughts on All Saints Day on 1st November. We were accompanied by a large pumpkin, borrowed from the Great Paxton Community Shop and Ursula's black cat, Tosca, was the star of the show.'
The recording begins with the lively hymn, Shine Jesus Shine, Ursula reads a passage from Romans Chapter 8 and she finishes with a lovely prayer for all those who are young at heart, on the theme of Saints. Thank you Ursula.
This week our service is set in St James' Church, Little Paxton and Annette reflects on camels, needles and our attitude to money. The opening song is the Harvest Samba and is sung by children from Years 1 and 2 at Little Paxton Primary School, and closes with another charming Harvest song. These have been reproduced with kind permission from the school. We were very lucky to be able to invite the children back into the church for Harvest celebrations after a two year gap because of Covid. It was wonderful to hear them in church.
Here is the YouTube service for Sunday 3rd October 2021. It is a recording of a service which took place on Monday 27th September in Great Paxton Churchyard to commemorate the Battle of Britain pilot Philip Cardell who was killed on 27th September 1940 when his plane crashed into the Channel. Big thank you to Alex, bell ringer, who rang the church bell 23 times, one stroke for each year of Philip's life and a special thank you to David Duker who recounted Philip's life.
This week's service has a Harvest theme with the following Bible sentence to reflect on 'There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all people.' (1 Corinthians Chapter 12 vs 4-6)
